Thorax in ankylosing spondylitis.
Rigidity of the thorax in ankylosing spondylitis was first recognized as long ago as 1695, when Bernard Connor described a skeleton showing the characteristic rigidity of the thoracic cage and lumbar spine and concluded that respiration must have been greatly restricted during the life of the unfortunate sufferer. متن کاملThe thorax in ankylosing spondylitis.
One of the most interesting and characteristic findings in the condition known in Great Britain as Ankylosing Spondylitis, and in the U.S.A. as Rheumatoid Spondylitis, is the diminution in thoracic, i.e. intercostal, expansion due to involvement of the costo-transverse and costo-vertebral joints. This finding is not seen as a common or characteristic feature in any of the other rheumatic diseas...
متن کاملUrolithiasis in ankylosing spondylitis: Correlation with Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index (BASFI) and Bath ankylosing spondylitis metrology index (BASMI)
Background: Increased incidence of renal stone has been reported in ankylosing spondylitis (AS), but unlike some well-known renal involvements, they have not been fully studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of AS with urolithiasis and also the relation between urinary stone and severity markers. Methods: One hundred-sixty three AS patients were included in a cross-s...
متن کاملASSOCIATION OF HLA-B27 WITH ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS IN ISFAHAN, IRAN
Using a standard microcytotoxicity (NIH) technique of tissue typing, the HLA-B27 antigen was identified in 30 out of 34 patients (HH.2%) with classical ankylosing spondylitis (AS), compared to 6 out of 70 controls (H.6%) (P < 0.005). We also found this antigen in 8 out of 76 (10.5%) patients with non-AS arthritis.
